So...

I went to my good friend who for bashful's sake we'll call Peg. Peg is a very good friend of mine who also happens to be a nutritionist. We both sat down together and went over some of the things I had eaten, the times I had eaten, and the reasons why I had eaten. She told me that the only way I would get through this is to confront the physical and emotional problems I have in my way.

So I'm just gonna lay it all out on the table - buffet style- and go from there. As of right now I have poly-cystic-ovarian syndrome, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and asthma. The asthma isn't curable, but it sure as hell would be less if I was less. So all the other physical health problems are weight related.

But the emotional side? That can of worms is too deep to open just yet. I think maybe I should go to a psychiatrist, but really... I just don't know.

Well, when I started above 280 pounds, I knew I had to confront those skeletons but couldn't. So I didn't, for awhile. I just focused on the food until it became habit. Then I started very small with changing the diet...slowly so I didn't give up and quit! Eating more veggies, better proteins, etc. Then I started facing some of my demons. Slowly. Blogged about some, wrote in my personal journal about others. Some things were just too personal to share on the blog. I just took things slow. I still have my issues, but anxiety is better, I'm feeling safe now from scary people in my past, and I'm just soooo much better.

Do find someone if you need to, but take it easy...one step at a time. Otherwise it's to overwhelming! You've got a lot of changes going on right now: diet, getting your health under control, and working on the emotional stuff which is the crux of the problem (at least for me it was)...slow and easy and it all works out.

Well, the above is just my experience, what worked for me. Find what works best for you and stick with it.
